In a remarkable act of generosity, Ibrahim Conteh, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sierra FC, a renowned second division side, donated football items to CKC Foundation FC, a non-division team in the Waterloo community. The donation took place on Thursday, July 13, 2023, following a friendly match between the two sides at the Angola playing field, where Sierra FC emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over the CKC boys.
Conteh expressed his commitment to fulfilling the promises made to their opponents, aiming to assist the players in the pursuit of their dreams and contribute to the improvement of youth football in that region of the country. CKC, a grassroots football club based in Waterloo, had previously received footballs from Sierra FC during a friendly match. Despite facing limited resources, Conteh acknowledged the potential talents within CKC and their efforts to train aspiring players.
As the CEO of Sierra FC, Conteh recognized the importance of developing football in rural areas. Being a permanent resident in such an area himself, he pledged to collaborate and support clubs within these communities. He believed that promoting grassroots football in the rural regions should be a priority for football development in the Western Area.
Conteh handed over the donated equipment, including balls, cones, and bibs, to CKC FC, expressing his hope that they would utilize the resources wisely. He assured CKC FC of his continued support, promising to do more in the future to promote grassroots football.
Albert Chris Henry Kamara, the founder of CKC and Head Coach, expressed his gratitude to Sierra FC for the beautiful gesture. Kamara eagerly embraced the opportunity to partner with Sierra FC in developing grassroots football in their community. CKC FC, which was established after the Ebola outbreak, focuses on supporting street kids, orphans, and the less privileged. Kamara pledged to utilize the donated equipment for its intended purposes and emphasized that it would greatly boost their efforts to resume training.
The collaboration between Sierra FC and CKC Foundation FC signifies a united front in promoting football at the grassroots level.
